BlackRock’s Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group provides independent oversight of BlackRock’s fiduciary and enterprise risks.  RQA’s mission is to advance the firm’s risk management practices and to deliver independent risk expertise and constructive challenge to drive better business and investment outcomes.  RQA’s risk managers play a meaningful role in BlackRock’s investment process, using quantitative analysis and a multi-disciplinary skillset to tackle real-world problems and provide tangible solutions in the investment management process.

Tasks

  • Function as the primary risk manager for some of BlackRock’s Multi Asset Solutions and Strategies (MASS) portfolios across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA)
  • Manage business relationships with senior leaders across MASS investments, Manager Research, Investment Strategy, and Client functions.
  • Serve as an independent and credible advisor and value-add partner to senior investors and business leads across Multi Asset
  • Provide leadership on day-to-day risk management activities including overseeing regular risk reviews, ad-hoc analyses, and deep dives on risk or performance of portfolios.
  • Contribute to research relating to markets, portfolio construction, and the risk environment
  • Partner with BlackRock Solutions (BRS) to advance risk and performance attribution methodologies and tooling.
  • Collaborate with peers across RQA to enhance risk frameworks and manage and develop junior talent.

Profile / Your qualification / Your personality

  • A degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, computer science, economics, engineering), and 6+ years of work experience in a buyside risk or investment-focused role
  • Strong knowledge of Multi-Asset investment processes, including strategic and tactical asset allocation, manager selection, and blending.
  • A passion for applying quantitative techniques to real-world problems and deep understanding of risk factor models, their limitations, and stress testing techniques.
  • Excellent collaborative, leadership, and oral/written communication skills.
  • An ability to communicate, influence & engage with portfolio managers on risk discussions.
  • Good technical skills and familiarity with BlackRock’s Aladdin risk system is a strong plus.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
