The Head of Fixed Income Trading will lead and oversee the firm’s fixed income trading operations. This role involves managing the electronic client order flow, matching institutional client orders, sourcing liquidity, and managing the firm’s inventory of corporate and government bonds. A key focus will be driving the growth of the firm’s fixed income P&L through building client relationships and managing trading strategies, including risk management of the fractional trading in fixed income instruments.
Tasks
Electronic Client Order Flow Management
- Oversee the electronic order flow, ensuring efficient execution of client orders and optimal matching of institutional orders.
- Monitor and optimize trading systems to enhance execution performance and order flow management.
Liquidity Sourcing and Execution
- Sourcing liquidity for institutional clients, both as a principal intermediary between clients, and by sourcing liquidity from dealers, to facilitate trades.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance liquidity access, ensuring best execution and adherence to regulatory standards.
Client Relationship Management and Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, ensuring consistent engagement and service delivery.
- Proactively reach out to potential clients to grow the firm’s client base and increase trading volumes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify cross-selling opportunities and further develop the fixed income product offering.
Inventory Management
- Oversee and manage the firm’s inventory of corporate and government fixed income instruments, ensuring adequate levels to meet trading demands.
- Manage the fractional trading operations of fixed income instruments, ensuring seamless execution and operational efficiency.
- Mitigate risks related to inventory positions, including market, liquidity, operational and credit risks.
Revenue Growth and P&L Management
- Drive the revenue growth of the fixed income trading desk, with a focus on increasing P&L and improving trading margins.
- Analyze market trends and implement trading strategies that align with the firm's revenue goals and risk appetite.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all trading activities comply with FCA regulations, internal policies, and market best practices.
- Collaborate with compliance and risk management teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and risk frameworks, including best execution, market abuse regulations and where appropriate other European or international regulatory frameworks.
Profile / Your qualification / Your personality
- Deep Fixed Income Market Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of corporate and government bonds, including market dynamics, liquidity, and pricing.
- Electronic Trading Expertise: Proven experience with electronic trading platforms, order flow management, and trade execution.
- Client Relationship Building: Strong network within institutional fixed income markets, with a proven ability to bring in new business and grow revenue.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse market data, trading patterns, and client behaviours to drive profitable trading strategies.
- Risk Management: Experience with managing market, liquidity, operational and credit risks associated with fixed income trading.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in fixed income trading, with a focus on institutional clients and electronic trading.
- FCA regulated experience and knowledge of FCA compliance regulations.
- Demonstrable track record of generating revenue growth in fixed income markets.
