About your team:
The Finance function is responsible for the financial accounting for FIL Fondsbank GmbH (FFB) as well as providing management information, monitoring financial controls and ensuring compliance with the financial regulations of the local regulators. Our vision is to be a trusted, knowledgeable, pro-active and commercial business partner, whilst delivering effective and efficient financial control, decision support and risk management.
Tasks
The purpose of your role is to lead the financial accounting and controlling activities for FFB as well as a team of four individuals who all handle different aspects of the legal entity accounting. You will be reporting into the Head of Personal Investing and Advisory Operations Germany who is part of FFB’s Managing Board.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading FFB’s Finance team in all aspects of financial accounting and controlling for FFB
- Completion of monthly financials and presentation to senior management
- Controlling of monthly revenues and expenses
- Monthly closure of the ledgers in line with the time-table
- Liaison with external and internal auditors and the preparation of the annual financial statements
- Regular review, analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
- Awareness of the relationship between financial accounting and management reporting, especially with regards to budget controls
- Building an understanding of FFB‘s Personal Investing & Advisory business including the development and maintenance of strong relationships with our internal business partners
- Assisting with the preparation and support of the audit of the German GAAP annual accounts
- Close co-operation with the tax department on matters of tax reporting
- Supporting the further development of a controls focused environment by improving current procedures and increase automation
Profile / Your qualification / Your personality
- University degree in e.g. Finance/Economics/Business Administration as well as qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent) with relevant post-qualification experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience, preferably in an international financial services company or financial institute
- A team player, who will be able to work within the overall culture and fit with its entrepreneurial but collaborative style
- People leadership experience developing a team
- Good knowledge of accounting under German (HGB / RechKredV) and US GAAP
- Fluent spoken and written German and English
- Excellent communication skills
- Dedicated to accuracy and quality, with attention to detail
- Self-motivated, proactive, organised and able to use initiative and prioritise in a multi-task environment
