In your new position as a Head of Unit Cloud Financial Management and Optimization, you will act as a business partner supporting our global IT organization to monitor, steer and optimize Cloud costs.

The Chief of Staff/ IT strategy division supports the leadership team in financial steering across the CIO/COO organization. It is the interface between the Division management, the various business areas within the Division, the corporate central functions, and the various market business segments of Deutsche Börse Group. Being the main interface to the central functions of the group, the Chief of Staff/ IT strategy department is responsible for effective and efficient interface management and the development of well-structured solutions as decision proposals.

Tasks

  • Define and Implement FinOps Strategy that aligns with the financial mid-term targets
  • Financial Management and Cost optimization:
  • Cloud Cost Forecasting and Budgeting: lead cloud budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes, ensuring cloud expenses are predictable and within budget
  • Cloud spent visibility and reporting, including creation of dashboards, reports and KPIs to provide visibility into cloud usage and cost drivers across teams and services
  • Cost allocation and chargeback to ensure teams are accountable for their cloud usage
  • Cost control and operational efficiency:
  • Cost optimization and reduction: identify areas for cost reduction, such as underutilized or over-provisioned resources, and recommend actions like rightsizing or further reserved instance commitment
  • Resource usage management including tagging strategies for better visibility and control
  • Automation and tooling: implement automation tools and scripts for instance scheduling, idle resource identification and auto-scaling to reduce cost
  • Monitor and mitigate cost anomalies
  • (Data-) Analytics:
  • Use data analytics and modelling to identify cost-saving opportunities and predict cloud usage patterns
  • Cloud Usage optimization, work with DevOps, Engineering, and product IT teams to ensure that cloud-native development practices (like serverless, containerization, and autoscaling) are cost-effective
  • Team Leadership and education:
  • Lead, mentor and develop the team of FinOps and Financial analyst
  • Cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless understanding of cloud spending
  • Act overall as a business partner and enable proper decision making

Profile / Your qualification / Your personality

  • Academic degree in economics, finance or similar degree in a relevant field of expertise
  • 5+ years of professional experience, ideally first team/ leadership experience
  • Deep understanding of cloud pricing models (GCP and Azure), reserved instances, and savings plans
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (GCP and Azure) and DevOps practices to guide technical teams on cost-efficient design
  • Independent way of working and a high sense of responsibility in task delivery and result orientation
  • Customer-oriented and solution-driven working methods
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English in speaking and writing
