The Credit Risk Management team is responsible for the risk management of Munich Re’s credit risks. This includes the development of the group-wide credit risk strategy and, more specifically, all credit risk management activities arising from investments, external retro and reinsurance placements, and reinsurance transactions that give rise to credit risk exposures, i.e. credit (re)insurance business or financially motivated reinsurance (FinMoRe). To achieve our goals, we work in close collaboration with other reinsurance departments, other risk management and investment management units as well as with our primary insurance group ERGO and asset manager MEAG.
Aufgaben
Your responsibilities will concentrate on the assessment of credit risk within financially motivated reinsurance transactions with significant credit risk exposures primarily in Life/Health but also in the Non-Life segment. In detail this means:
- Identifying and assessing credit risk in selected Life/Health and Non-life FinMoRe deals in close collaboration with other risk management functions with the ultimate goal of preparing risk management statements for the respective approval bodies, e.g. board members or board committees based on the applicable referral and approval frameworks
- Developing a thorough understanding of the mechanics of the transactions (motivation, structure, etc.)
- Attending respective board committee meetings to represent the credit risk opinion
- Assessing credit risk mitigating measures (e.g. collateralization or set-off) for FinMoRe transactions
- First point of contact for business units (all markets) and central functions in the Reinsurance Group regarding credit risk in FinMoRe deals
- Continuous enhancement of the risk management framework for credit risk in FinMoRe, e.g.: Enhancing the applicable credit risk appetite and pricing frameworks, Assessing and validating credit pricing parameters like Credit Default Swap (CDS) spreads and probability of default assumptions
- Challenging credit risk analyses for (re)insurance counterparties provided by business units and/or local risk management functions with the aim of deriving an own rating
- Providing professional guidance as Senior Risk Manager to colleagues regarding the above topics
Beyond the above your activities will also comprise:
- Taking over reporting, data preparation and analysis tasks
- Collaborating closely (e.g. via participation in overarching projects) with business units and other involved departments to foster efficient credit risk management processes across Munich Re Group
Profil / Ihre Qualifikation / Ihre Persönlichkeit:
- University degree, ideally in mathematics, economics, business administration, or a comparable field
- Profound knowledge of FinMoRe structures and concepts, e.g. (non)cash financing, funds withheld or modified coinsurance structures
- Very good grasp of (re)insurance concepts especially in the Life/Health area
- High stress resistance and commitment
- Ability to integrate and manage perspectives of different stakeholders in the development of one solution
- Strong analytical skills and ability to break down complex facts to the bare essentials and present them in a clear and simple way
- Very good command of English (written and spoken)
